How we hire?

The way we hire

We want to know more about your talents and everything that makes you!

We’re committed to making Halton Borough Council a diverse and inclusive environment for everyone. Diversity for us means respect for and appreciation of differences in: gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, race and ethnic origin, religion and faith, marital status, social, educational background and way of thinking.

We’ve designed our assessments so that each candidate has an authentic and positive experience, every step along the way.

From apprentices to senior leaders, we’re here to find the very best talent for our team. We want to get to know the real you and in return we’ll be honest about who we are too. Understanding our culture, as well as the detail of the role you’re interested in, makes it even easier to know if Halton Borough Council is the right move for you.

What can you expect?

We understand that everyone is an individual and our interviews are designed to give you the chance to be you, whilst showing us your skills and experience. We complete a number of tasks to understand whether our way of working is the right fit for you.

In return, we’ll give you the opportunity to meet our colleagues and gain a genuine understanding of the role and a typical day here at Halton Borough Council.

As a “Disability Confident Leader” we want to remove barriers for disabled people and ensure they have opportunities to fulfil their potential. This scheme guarantees an interview to any applicant with a disability, as defined by the Equality Act 2010 that meets the essential criteria for the job. If you are a disabled applicant wishing to apply, please make sure to tick the “yes” box on your application form.

Also, as part of our commitments we will provide a fully inclusive and accessible recruitment process. If you require any adjustments during our recruitment process, please let us know.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
